KANSAS CITY — The reservation was made under a name that wasn’t theirs, for a time when the room would be half-empty, at a table the staff call “the quiet corner.” And for two hours on a Tuesday in August, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce managed the rarest achievement in modern celebrity: an uneventful dinner.
Staff at the Kansas City restaurant — which we’re not naming, because they’d like them back — describe a couple indistinguishable from any other celebrating nothing in particular. Shared appetizers, one bottle of wine between two, dessert and coffee past closing time.

Whether that’s the city’s Midwestern manners or a deliberate strategy matters less than the result. The most photographed couple in America keeps choosing a city that lets them eat dinner.
