How we tested
Three editors with different skin types (dry, combination, and reactive) used each duo nightly for eight weeks, alternating months so no product got the “good skin month” advantage. We photographed under identical bathroom lighting every Sunday, logged hydration with a consumer moisture meter, and noted irritation, pilling under pillowcases, and how far each jar actually stretched.
We also tracked the boring stuff: how the products layered over retinol on alternate nights, whether the pumps clogged, and whether either duo earned a permanent spot after the test ended.
