The three-layer method
The technique is old-school stagecraft: line and fill the entire lip with pencil first — not just the edge — then apply lipstick, blot hard with a tissue, apply again, blot again, finish with a final thin layer pressed in with a finger. Each blot stains the pigment into the lip; each new layer bonds to the stain beneath it.
