Prince William's Gym Window Is 6 A.M. — and It's Built Around the School Run
The future king trains before his children wake. Exercise physiologists say the parent-friendly timing is exactly why the habit has survived a decade of schedule chaos.

The Prince of Wales has been photographed at polo, rowing machines, and charity football matches for two decades — but the durable habit, per reports of his Windsor routine, is quieter: early training, at home, before the children’s day begins.
Exercise physiologists call it the only slot that works for parents. They’re not being glib.
Why 6 a.m. wins by default
Research on exercise adherence in parents finds the same pattern everywhere: workouts scheduled after work fail to competing demands — pickups, dinners, homework, exhaustion. The early session has exactly one competitor: sleep. Once that’s priced in, the habit has no rivals.
“Every hour later you schedule a workout doubles the chance something eats it,” one physiologist told us. “Before the household wakes is the only slot with a perfect defense record. Boring, brutal, undefeated.”

The home-gym minimum
The barrier isn’t time, it’s friction — a gym commute at dawn kills the habit in weeks. The fix is a ten-minute setup at home: one piece of cardio you don’t hate, one set of weights that adjusts.

The 'train before the chaos wakes' rule is the only fitness advice that survived my thirties.
Rowing at dawn is peak dad behavior and I'm here for the monarchy embracing it.
Adjustable dumbbells in the garage = gym membership canceled 3 years ago. Math checks out.
The point about 6 a.m. being the only interruption-proof slot is painfully accurate.
